Moremi Game Reserve

Location

Moremi Game Reserve is situated in the eastern part of the Okavango Delta in Botswana. It covers approximately 4,871 square kilometers, encompassing both wetland and dry land areas.

Establishment

The reserve was established in 1963 and named after Chief Moremi of the BaTawana tribe. It was the first wildlife reserve in Africa to be established by local residents.

Ecosystem and Biodiversity

Moremi is renowned for its diverse ecosystems, which include mopane woodlands, floodplains, lagoons, and dense forests. This diversity supports a wide range of wildlife, making it one of the richest game reserves in Africa.
